Pinterest Live - Homemade Gift Edition

Our popular Pinterest Live series is back. This time around we will work on handmade gifts suitable for the holiday season. This program is for ages 12 and up and registration is required. Join us Tuesday December 1 at 6:30 PM.

Beat Holiday Stress Adult Coloring Party

Adult coloring is the hottest trend in stress relief so take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle and come color with us. Enjoy a cup of herbal tea and a holiday cookie as the tension melts away. You must be 18 years or older to attend this program. Join us December 17 at 7:00 PM.


The Canton Public Library has partnered with the University of Michigan’s Technical Communications department to bring a series of fun and exciting STEM workshops to the library. These workshops will present a wide range of topics in the science, technology, engineering and math disciplines. Each session has been designed and developed for kids aged 11 – 13 by engineering students at the university. Registration is required for each session.
  • Big Fun With Big Data - Come learn about statistics, data collection and analysis. Students will conduct a guided experiment and then spend time crunching all the numbers. Saturday, November 21, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
  • Minecraft: Unlock the Logic - Using the very popular computer game, students will explore logic gates - the building blocks of every digital system. Participants must bring a personal laptop and Minecraft account information to this workshop. Sunday, November 22, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
  • Play Dough Circuits - Come explore electric circuitry with a variety of fun hands on activities. Saturday, December 5, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
  • Egg Drop Workshop - Students will design, build and then test their own egg drop container. Sunday, December 6, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
  • Crystal Radio Workshop - Come explore the science of radios and learn about sound waves, antennas and resonances.

Trivia Night at the Library

Enter as a team of 2 or more and work together to answer questions from a variety categories. Top teams will receive prizes. Doors open at 6 PM. Ages 18 & up. Monday November 16 at 6:00 PM

The celebration of Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, will be the feature of two special programs during November.

Tuesday November 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM -  Nadanta, a classical dance troupe directed by Chaula Thacker will join us for a special dance performance.

Thursday November 12, 2015 at 7:00 PM - Rangoli Adult Coloring Party - A rangoli is a colorful design made on the floor near the entrance to a house to welcome guests. These beautiful designs are a very important part of Diwali. Join us as we celebrate this tradition by coloring intricate rangoli coloring sheets. Ages 18 and up

Michigan Ghosts with Kristy Robinett

Join local author Kristy Robinett as she takes you on a journey of the strange and unusual and tells tales of centuries past and ghostly experiences. Thursday October 22 at 7:00 PM.

All About the Girls - Ladies Night Out Event

Join us Thursday, October 8 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM for All About the Girls: a Ladies Night Out celebrating women’s health, fitness & well-being in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Custom Bra Fittings with Millie Heinz "The Bra Lady"

Did you know that 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size? Wearing the right size bra not only improve the way you look and feel, proper support is also very important to a woman's overall health and well being. That is why we have invited Millie Heinz, "The Bra Lady" from Essential Bodywear to this event. Millie will be on hand to provide custom bra fittings and talk about undergarment care. She will also be accepting donations of gently used bras to be distributed at local women's shelters.

Essential Oils with Cheryl Ziobro

Learn how essential oils can support a woman's health and wellness.

Cooking Demonstration with Chef Kristi Zebrowski of Grace Savory & Sweet

You may remember Chef Kristi from the Canton Farmer's Market. This time, she'll be showing you how to make gluten-free and other healthy meals.

Wings of Wonder

The Friends of the Canton Public Library invite you to attend the ribbon cutting of the newly installed butterfly garden, Wings of Wonder, on September 21 at 6:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served.

Canton Book Project Reunion

It has been 5 months since Canton Book Project Book Givers received and distributed 95 books to the Canton Community. Book givers & recipients are invited to join us September 24 at 7:00 PM to discuss the outcomes of this very important project.

Canning with Chef Mary Spencer

Culinary instructor Mary Spencer will answer all of your canning and preserving questions.  Mary has studied under the best, including Jacques Pepin, Milos Cihelka and many more. She has taught classes at Kitchen Glamour, Kitchen Witch, ABC Warehouse and now runs her own cooking school in Northville called Taste: A Cook's Place, LLC. Come learn Mary's lessons on saving our summer bounty on September 9 at 6:30 pm.

CYS Summer Movie Madness

You voted to earn your Curtain's Up On the Scene Badge, now come and watch the best summer movies of all time. We are pulling out all your favorite films to show on the big screen one right after another. Bring your own pillows, snacks, & blankets and join us Wednesday, August 26. Here is the schedule:

10:00 AM - The Lego Movie:  An ordinary Lego construction worker, thought to be the prophesied 'Special', is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the Lego universe into eternal stasis.

2:00 PM - Despicable Me: When a criminal mastermind uses a trio of orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme, he finds their love is profoundly changing him for the better.

7:00 PM - Marvel's the Avengers: Earth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.

Fairy Gardens

Join Fairy specialist Gayle Drews from Nature's Garden Center and construct your very own garden complete with your very own fairy! All supplies will be provided. Ages 12 & up. This program will take place outside weather permitting. Registration required.  Saturday August 1st, 10:30 am.

Lip Sync Battle

You've probably seen the epic lip sync battles on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Or maybe you've watched LL Cool J host the show on Spike TV. Now you can show off your own lip sync skills and find out who is the top performer in Canton as we host a CYS Lip Sync Battle here at the library. Thursday July 30 at 7:00 PM. Registration is required. Participants are required to email song selection to by July 24.
